This is a normal thing to me. Maybe 40% of my game start are like this. Definitely a software issue but as you said, no issues after but kindda annoying sometimes.

And yes, this is my first post on here since joining almost 4 years ago, though I use to be a regular on here many years before that under an alternate, long lost account.
It's not just afterburner, its also GPU-z. Or perhaps any GPU monitoring software? I don't know.

If I allow GPU-z to run while playing BFBC2 multi, I get a freeze/gray screen about 15-20 minutes into playing. If I don't have GPU-z running, then I can play for days on end with no trouble if I so choose.

If you're still having problems, try turning off that monitoring software, see if it fixes it.

So far it's been confirmed to be caused by Punkbuster not liking the following programs:

MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precission, GPU-Z, Gigabyte Easy Tune 6....

Turn off GPU-Z, play, and enjoy without any freezes

Could be a few different things. This has been pretty common, hard lock & sound loop..

1.) realtek driver

2.) windows update

3.) Remove WAT (not that anyone here would use that)

Realtek drivers got me a while back.. Only way I was able to fix it was a complete reformat and fresh install of windows.
