Is a C2D really enough for modern high-end graphics cards?

Hey guys, I'm doing a comparison of my C2D E8200 OC'ed to 3.8 GHz and an i5 2500k that I'll be getting soon.

I want to prove that a C2D is a major bottleneck when gaming with a high-end graphics card in our day and age. Or prove that it isn't, but so far my tests are suggesting a CPU bottleneck with this thing.

I'll be doing some realistic tests, you know, 1920x1200, max settings with and without AA and such. What games / benchmarks / whatever should I include?
I already have 3DMark 11, 3DMark Vantage, Crysis benchmark, BC2, Dirt 2, F1 2010, Left 4 Dead, Metro 2033, and I'm gonna do SC2 and FC2 soon.

@ 3.8 ghz I'd say is decent for most games. I had an e6600 @ 3.4 ghz /w a 5850 playing BC2 @ max settings. Can't say I see the difference too much with my rig now other than being able to play eyefinity with the same settings.

e8300@ 3.8 with 5850=enough
2500k with 5850= better

This is should be interesting. Personally I don't think there will be a bottleneck with the C2D but I'm sure you will be higher frame rates with the 2500K. If you want to show that the C2D is a bottleneck you need to show that the frame rates you are getting with it are either independent of the GPU clock or don't improve when adding another card. You have a great selection of titles.

I'm aware of that. If you want an idea of how it'll be, you can read my analysis of the performance impact of AA and AF, which I'll finish when I'm done with this comparison. It'll be pretty much the same thing.
