Anyway, is the 3.8GHz a good enough OC? Leaving the NB on 2000? Will it grant me that 'lil edge in gaming? I can't try it out really, for I am only getting my GFX cards end of the month (2x ASUS HD6870 DirectCU).
As far as what will affect what, especially gaming, you will need to run benchmarks, and play some games and make that call. It's all about finding that sweet spot for you, and your setup. As far as stability, I can't speak for your board in particular, but having one very similar I found that at 2700+ NB that my max OC' was around 4.125~4.2, to go any higher that NB has to come down... and the performance gain vs. the system stress was not really worth it to me.

Really, theres no rush, play it like it is for awhile, and if you get board, you can always revisit the bios and try it again. In many ways I like that approach better cause you build some familiarity with how your setup runs, and will know more instinctively when/where/what component or software is causing you issues.

On my setup, after 2 months of dickering with it and gpu's I made several spread sheets before settling on a setting for every day use. Even at that, still do routine maintenance on the system, have Overheat protection enabled, and clean it regularly.
