Upgraded CPU Not Working - Page 2

save your self the trouble rma the chip its more than likely bad.. if you put in a known good processor and the one your replacing it with dosnt work .. I had the same issue with a 1090t processor i bought a while back only it worked for like 2-3 days then it died
i just had bad luck in that instance i returned it back to amazon and the processor they sent me was even better than the one i had before ..

youra6 brought up a good point about the TDP. I put in two chips that have a tdp above 65 watts and no go, but a chip with a tdp of 65 watts and it works. It got me thinking, what bothers me though is that the cpu support list says it will support both of the cpu's that didn't work. Anyone know what the g41 chipset can handle? What kind of wattage the processor can be?

On the GigaByte site, it reports there are 4 versions of your motherboard. Do you know which one it is? The reason I ask is that rev 1.0 requires a different BIOS version than the other three (rev 1.1, 1.3 & 1.4)

My e2140 still works in it, because it is powering my rig as we speak. I also tried putting a pentium 4 in there and it didn't work. If I think of anything else I will post it. I couldn't find the links for the other stuff.

My bios is version F9. This is the latest version as far as I know. The CPU support page says the chip has been supported since bios F1. It acts like it is not supported though, all the fans will spin up but no go. Also my dvd drive will just continue to make the same noise as if it is booting up, over an over again. My board is a rev 1.0.
