NZXT Phantom. How To: Fit 200mm fan on sidepanel with NH-D14 (NO MODDING REQ!)

Thread Starter
Here we go! I looked around on the net for a long time with out any results. And the topics i found, people said that it wasn't possible to fit a 200x200x20mm fan on the side panel together with the gigantic Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler. But stubborn as i am, I decided to order a fan to try it out and just use it as a top exhaust fan if it did not work out afterall and this is the results and how to do it yourself WITHOUT having to drill ANY holes for the fan!! cheers.gif

This is what you need:
  1. A 200x200x20mm fan. I used the Xigmatek XLF 200mm LED fan but i know that Bitfenix sells 200x200x20mm fans aswell (Note, ONLY a 200x200x20mm fan will fit, 200x200x30mm will be too wide!!)
  2. 4x rubber fan mounts (included with the Xigmatek fan, not sure about the Bitfenix one)
  3. A tiny flat screwdriver
  4. Patient!! wink.gif

How to do it!:
  1. Make sure that the fans on your NH-D14 doesnt stick out more then the heatpipes dscn1599z.jpg
  2. Mount the rubber mountings on the fan and place the fan on the sidepanel. Then grab your screwdriver and get ready for the hardest part wink.gif
  3. Use the screwdriver to push the round end of the rubber fan mounting throug the 230mm fan mounting holes. This is the anoying part. It may take some time to get it through but it went pretty quick for me when i figured out how to do it. Its a very big piece of rubber to get through a very small hole but atleast it wont fall off, and you wont have to drill any new holes! smile.gif Be careful so you dont damage that beautiful paint job too much! tongue.gif
    dscn1595r.jpgdscn1594t.jpg

The end result!
dscn1596j.jpg

Now just mount the sidepanel, make sure the fan doesnt hit anything. Just blow on it and check if it spins around then connect the fans and ENJOY!

Heres some more pictures:

dscn1582t.jpg
dscn1574l.jpg

I dont think you got a single mm more to spare! So if you want to use a dustfilter, im sorry but i very much doubt that it will fit frown.gif But atleast imo its SO worth it biggrin.gif
dscn1588n.jpg

Thats everything. I hope this helpt alot of people who didn't find a awnser to this yet! Good luck everyone!!

what about drill the holes? i heard there are areas where u can drill fan holes on the xigametch fan instead of using the rubber thing, doesn't that give more space?

I decided to try without any drilling, i don't feel like putting a drill to my new Phantom case and Xigmatek fan. Also i doubt that it will give more space since the fan already is as close to the side panel as it can be.

Hey puff. Whats up? You're going to get the same space if you drill or not because of the raised mounting screw holes on the side panel. You're for sure not going to be-able to use the filter. Couple pics to show you what I'm talking about. But You can still drill out the pre-drilled holes and install and get the same space.
