Asus M4A88TD-EVO3 help!

Hi,

I am new to the site. I have a problem that's been bugging me for a couple of days now. so i have an ocz vertex ii ssd and 2 western digital 7200 1 tb each on raid 0. I have an asus m4a88td-evo3 motherboard. my problem is, i have the raid 0 setup up plugged in on sata port 1 and 2. now on the m4a88td boards, sata port 1-4 can be configured as raid, ide, or ahci. port 5-6 can be configured either ide or raid. since that i have the raid 0 plugged in on ports 1 and 2, i have to change the whole port 1-4 to raid. this forces me to plug the ssd on port 5 which does not support ahci. i am using the ssd as a boot drive obviously. is there anyway around this? when i plug in the ssd on raid ports and change it to ahci, my windows does not detect the raid setup. I have been searching high and low for this for a couple of days now. i just want to set my ssd to ahci and keep my raid setup. any help would be appreciated!

Well, first of all, there's no such thing as a M4A88TD-EVO3. Is it an M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3? Or a M4A88TD-M EVO/USB3? Could help if there's a driver issue.

And if I'm reading this correctly, why don't you just plug the RAID drives into ports 5 and 6, and put the SSD somewhere on 1-4? Simple enough...

it is M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 i forgot to put the whole description. Your second option sounds like a good idea, however, i have tried that. when i set the ports 1-4 to ahci, ports 5-6 loses the raid option. you could only pick between ide and ahci on ports 5-6 when port 1-4 is set to ahci. when i set ports 1-4 to raid, ports 5-6 has the option of raid and ide. weird. could it be a driver issue on the mobo?

Try plugging the SSD into port 3 or 4. Just because it's set to RAID doesn't mean that it has to be a RAID pair, at least I don't think so. Have you tried that?

thanks for the reply hollywood. I have tried that option, it just wouldn't boot up windows when I plug the ssd to port 3 or 4. oh well i guess i have to live with this with no AHCI.

put the ssd in 3 or 4, and set bios to boot from the ssd instead of the raid drives
the raid configure tool can set 1-2 as stripe and 3-4 as individual drives
