why is the gtx470 worth more then? - Page 2

Well the GTX 560 SOC has a 1000MHz clock speed which puts it on par with the GTX 570. Gigabyte really pushed it to the limit, from what I've seen the card becomes unstable above that. Not to mention that few 560s will reach those clocks.

The GTX 470 SOC has only 700MHz clock speed and I don't understand why Gigabyte didn't push it to 800MHz or even 850MHz. You need 825MHz on the core clock to be on par with a GTX 570 and that's pretty much the OC threshold on air. In this case, many GTX 470s will OC to 700MHz but few will go above 800MHz.

I think its mostly down to certain thermal issues regarding the gtx470 , it does seem to have certain heat issues pushed above a certain point where as a gtx560 is really easy to oc right upto 1000mhz , providing the silicon lottery allows it , My one runs at 975/1950/2250 all day at no more than 62-64c.

Yes, the GTX 560 is a rehashed GTX 460 with higher clocks. The GTX 560ti competes with the GTX 470, and was probably the card I was referencing.

Edit:
It was, the link I attached in my post shows benchmarks of the GTX 560ti.

GTX 470 @ 900 > GTX 560Ti @ 1ghz core. The 470 is a much better cad, though it does suck in a lot of power.

The 470 has more memory and more cores. The 560Ti (reworked 460 -w-384 cores?) is clocked much faster, but manages to run much cooler. $ for $ the 470 IS a superior card (especially when you overclock/overvolt). But you will pay the price in longevity and massive heat output.
You can compare them here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/graphic...s_buy_now.html

woha! major necro!

but just to add something my 470 does 895 core on air at 1.087V and i am 100% sure that it would wipe the board with the 560Ti @1000 core, heck i would bet it would still beat the 560Ti when its at 800 core.
