No picture on monitor after installing gtx470. (sorta long)

Hi so heres my problem. I just installed:

Asus Crosshair II Formula
AMD Phenom II 940
8 gigs corsair dominator
Asus DVD drive
Galaxy gtx470 gc
Coolermaster v10

into my brothers computer and kept his 600 watt silverstone PSU.

I upgraded his 9800 gt to a gtx 470. However after installation it appears as if the computer struggles to power on. With the Asus DVD drive plugged in nothing happens at all, no power, nothing.

Without the DVD drive plugged in everything lights up for a split second then it goes off. If I wait a little longer and power it on then it will stay on, but I will get no picture on the monitor, the power button just blinks.

I put the 9800 gt back in and im not getting any picture from that either!

Could it be that my PSU is suddenly failing?

600w is plenty to power your listed items. Sounds like PSU to me, had one do that before. Another thought, did you take all the static discharge precautions you should have when changing all that hardware?

did u clear cmos ? if not it probably wont show picture .. when i took out my 5850 and replaced with 6950 i had no pic till i cleared cmos .

unplug ur pc , take out the battery , hold down power for 10 seconds and plug it all back in .. should work , if not .. faulty card... 600w is more than enough but with ur problems i suggest trying another one .

He stated the computer doesn't stay on. Mobo lights then off, highly doubt has anything to do with cmos nor gpu.

Yeah it is probably your PSU. Nothing else really seems possible.

well according to my brother the PSU has always been a little finicky so I guess the split second lights and the shut offs are normal in this situation... lol

I just cleared the CMOS and nothin happened, however that was with the 9800 plugged back in... im gonna put the 470 in and trouble shoot from there

im moments away from doing my PSU transplant...
