Still, from what I saw, those TY-140's are rocking.
I'm ordering the charts
1. alphabetically, so people can look up the fans,
2. from best cooling to worst,
3. from quietest to loudest.
I figure people can decide on their own what fan is best.
BTW - I am really pleased with the consistency I am finally getting. I just did a 30-minute run with 'stock' fans (actually a P12 and P14 bought at retail). Same fans as I used in the above tests. TOA = 49.8c, SPL = 46dBA.
To get consistency: thermometer set in the middle of the intake airstream. Foam stuck under the intake side of the motherboard (it turns out that the underside of the cpu is warm, and with a horizontal mb the heat can migrate). Supplementary quiet fan (Slip Stream 800 rpm) below the top of test bench to make sure the psu exhaust comes nowhere near the test setup. I should expect +/- 1c and +/- 1.4dBA; but I'm getting less than +/- 0.5c, usually much less, and at most +/- 0.5dBA. The only real variance is when OCCT/Linpack starts getting erratic, and I'm quick to throw out those runs. I've even learned how to avoid that happening. Overall, I'm happy with the consistency.
