6870 gaming + youtube = fail. - Page 3

Easiest way to turn off hardware acceleration:

1. Right click on the youtube widow.
2. Click settings.
3. Uncheck the box for hardware acceleration

Hmmm... I just tried it in chrome and it seems like for youtube videos the "settings" option is blanked out... so I guess there is no easy way to disable it.

Are you using msi after burner ? works perfectly with my 6950 .. in eyefinity with three monitors .. always downclocks to 500/1375 @ 1v idles at 50c .

try using 11.4 drivers and try using msi afterburner 2.1.0 beta 7 .. another thing if you have your card overclocked it wont downclock .. everything needs to be on default for the card to do so .

I was about to say...

@Xrito
I have an older version, but I already downloaded it, I'll probably overclock it, just didn't have time yet.

Hmmm, strange. It seems to be strictly a dual monitor issue. I just tried disconnecting my p1130 and running single monitor u2311h. Everything is normal now, no buggy flash, no lagging 1080p. I'm going to test gaming and youtube at the same time right now..

I don't remember exactly what 10.x driver I was running with my 5770 that didn't have this problem, but I'm pretty sure it was 10.11 or older. It may be 6870 specific, since almost everyone reporting in this thread is running a 6870. Regardless, it shouldn't be happening at all. I'm going to wait until 11.4 is finalized, then hook back up my dual monitor setup and report back here.

EDIT: No, I have not overclocked my 6870 at all.

Just played some sc2; streamed it; played some 360/480p youtube on the background. Had over 80 fps in the game
I think it affects only HD play... anybody can confirm?

Hey everyone,
I also have a similar problem on an OC'ed GTX 295 CO-OP at 684/1474/1080.

It happens with some games and ceased to happen on certain others depending on which drivers I had installed. The current ones I'm using seem to also cause a problem randomly when watching flash videos such as in Youtube. I'm sure of this since I just started a game and noticed how slow it felt, so I started up MSI afterburn and went to check the clocks, which were

Very rarely while playing a certain game my screen would turn black for some seconds and then come back on. No error or warning message at all and the game continued as if nothing happened, but I noticed the clocks were lower than even default clocks.

The only way to have them back to normal was to either reboot or, quicker way, disable and re-enable SLI.

You bumped a thread I already answered from months ago .

Flash videos are hardware accelerated. Either disable it thorugh the drivers or the web browser, or else your games WILL lag. Also, 295 drivers suck .

Yes and I read that too (it hasn't been months either, just a month...). But it doesn't help it when the same happens on certain games that aren't related to flash... in which interestingly the behaviour is similar. Also there's no such thing as "295 drivers". It's simply NVIDIA drivers... Unless you mean there is new 295 version drivers, in which case I'm on 267. I might try newer ones.. In any case let's not start a gfx card brand war shall we...

Well it didn't fix my HD playback so it's "good" fix for now, unless I'm preloading a video in the background of my game...

the throttling is part of the bios. your card is stuck in 2d mode, i resolved this issue by closing all windows that are playing a video. even if they are minimized it will stay in 2d mode
