Have you looked at your external devices and taken MIDI into consideration?

Or is Reason your only music making program?
That's why there is a thing called "UPGRADE" that exists. 4GB is good enough for now, if the OP needs more memory the OP can buy more. An audio interface is needed if the OP wishes to record live instrumentals or vocals. But if the OP just wants to make music and beats without any vocal and make it all digital then there is no use for an audio interface. Have you not used a Sandy Bridge processor yet? These are equivalent or better than i7 1366 CPU's.

This is what you're suggesting the OP to pay $400 to buy:
20" LCD Widescreen LCD Display
2.0GHz G5 Processor
1.0GB RAM (2x512MB) 184-pin PC-3200 DDR SDRAM
250GB Hard Drive (7200rpm)
DVD-RW/CD-RW SuperDrive-DL
Radeon 9600 video card (128MB)
1680x1050 resolution
Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR
Airport Extreme card
2- FireWire 400 ports
3- USB 2.0 ports
Ethernet port

Old hardware for expensive and overpriced costs. The only thing that they have that is good is their OS. Pricing on hardware is outrageously expensive and this is not to include that this hardware only comes with a 30 day warranty and cannot even be upgraded to the Snow Leopard OS. Apple has ditched the PowerPC processors for quite a while now in favor of Intel processors. But again, the OP only needs something like an M-Audio device if vocals and live instrumentals need to be recorded or midi connections are needed.

I don't think the OP will be gaming on this PC, as the OP's sig rig is plenty fast for gaming. It's why I suggested H67 over P67. But building a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) you want the least amount of components in your build as possible to avoid latency problems. Latency can be measured with DPCLAT.

Meh, there's only one Mac program even worthy of mentioning and that's Logic! Good luck getting that and a rig with a $900 budget

Afaik (but I could be wrong) Logic won't even run on a system that pushes the latest Snow Leapord properly due to hardware bull*****. Good going Apple

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8G
COOLER MASTER Storm Scout
LITE-ON CD/DVD Burner

This is the setup Im running right now on windows 7 ultimate 64bit. I use my Yamaha Motif XF, Cubase 5, Reason 5, FL Studio, and a bunch of vst's and vsti's. No problems what so ever. I also have a coolermaster hyper 212+ and an xfx radeon hd 5670. You can make that work.
