Thread Starter
Hi guys so my brother has asked me to build him a basic pc.

All it will be used for is normal home use like internet, email and word and things like that. No games or any other stressfull stuff.

His budget is $800au max so let me here your suggestions.

Hard Drive

Prices are from newegg so they might vary up or down depending on the retailer but that should give you a good idea.

You could even go with the stock cooler and save another 30$ if he wont be doing any overclocking and put it towards a better cpu.. i5 ect... I just like to keep the cpu cool even at stock temps.

Basic build I just threw together real quick. It's upgradable and has enough power for some multitasking. If he decides to upgrade from onboard graphics in the future a 5750/5770 would fit in beautifully.

sounds like some good builds will have a look into both and decide. reps for both.

You pay a good premium for a mac. Its nothing great, its an over priced PC with a different operating system IMO. Some people love them, I just cant justify spending twice as much for the same equipment.

3. You'll be able to find 1600Mhz memory for the same price

2. The HAF 912 is worth about half an Athlon II x4 CPU in America... at this point I'd swap the case

All suggestions are okay so far with some tweaks, I'd help but I'm not familiar with the Australian market, sorry
