Help with reinstall of OS..

I may be making a big deal about this..

My hhd has 2 partitions (HP restore) and then C: with all on it.
My system has become slugish over 4+ yrs.
I'd like to use Acronis to make an image of my hhd. Then restore my hdd to factory with HP restore, then repartition it so that it would have 3 partitions .
Finally restore user settings, doc., ect. to E: partition.
(HP restore) (C: OS and Apps.) (E: User settings folders/files)

Will this work or do I just need to backup her settings ect. ??

Either way will work. Also, making a COMPLETE backup(image) of the drive is never a bad idea as once you format it becomes difficult to get the data back.

But really, just backup all data, double, triple check! Then HP restore, then use a partition utility like Gparted or whatever you like to make your E drive and move the data there.

You can also use Windows backup to backup a drive as well, just you cant restore it like the same way Acronis does.
