Caviar Black 1tb SATA6G HD...Is It Worth the Purchase? - Page 3

I have had quite a few WD drives fail on me. Some were in warranty and some were out of warranty.

WD is a bit more reliable than Samsung as long as failures are concerned, but WD is much worse on terms of DOA. Samsung protects their HDDs well; WD and Seagate don't.
What information are you basing your claims from?

@ the guys responding to LOL_Wut_Axel's comment about Hitachi.

There's a reason people call them Deathstars and not Deskstars.

That's more of a stigma of when they were the IBM line over 7 years ago.

Better watch out for that blaster worm if you're living that much in the past..

I've had all brands fail on me over the years, does that mean that particular brand was bad? No, but it depends on your luck.

Some people here buy 1 hdd and expect it to last all of eternity and when it fails they go online and rant that the brand sucks.

We're in a recession, but it's not 1920 it's 2011 btw, just thought you should know.

Deathstar issue was over a decade ago and it was IBM at the time, not Hitachi.

There is one reason I can think of for SATA6 on mechanical drives. It will not apply to 99% of users though.

Port multiplication with RAID. SATA6 would be less limited in STR/Ws on the SATA6 setup.

Just to let all of you know, I've returned the WD and I'm sticking with the SpinPoint F3R
post #27 of 28
+1 for F3, proud owner myself!

That WD goes for $90 regularly on Newegg. I've had the drive for a year now. No issues.
