Best Wirelss-N USB adapter?

Thread Starter
Just ordered a Netgear WNDR3700, and then discovered my sister's laptop - which I thought had N class internals - is only b/g. She really needs the bandwidth and range N allows, so I'm out looking for the best adapter under $70 or so. My friend is willing to sell me a WUSB600N for cheap, but I've heard mixed results about that. Anyone have good success stories?

The WiFi adapter is probably a miniPCIe card.

The best WiFi adapter is the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300.

I have that same adapter you just ordered, but my experience with it was bad. I kept getting lost siganls and low bandwidth. My computer doesn't have an internal wireless adapter so I bought the Netgear WNDR3700. My wireless router is in my living room and my pc is in my room which is right beside it and my signal was low. I could never get full bars. On a good day my internet speed was about 140mbps, never above that. So I went out and purchased the Linksys AE1000 wireless n adapter and rapidly noticed the difference. I average now bout 200mbps and even up to 300mbps!!! Highly recommend it snf it'll cost you round $60 bucks. Hope this helps you out.

I have the same setup. WNDR3700 router and the WUSB600N adapter. Its ok but for some reason I am only getting 4 bars with it while my old G adapter got 5.

I also have Linksys WMP600N which is just like that one adapter but it is pci. That is in the computer downstairs, much farther than mine, and it is getting 5 bars. So wusb600 is ok but I think any kind of pci adapter would be better and have a stronger signal.

Assuming that's a half-size card, I think I found my solution. Never even thought of swapping the internal

How do I know that'll work with my Bios though? Some of them seem to lock out certain cards, like a friend of mine's Lenovo did.
