One-button RSS aggregator

So here's my Firefox setup, minus a couple of bookmarks in the toolbar.

(OCN: I'm really sorry for blocking ads. I don't have them blocked on my other computers, I swear).

Notice the three live bookmarks that let me keep an eye on PhysOrg, Science Daily, and Hardware Canucks. It's a very simple system; click on it, look at what's available, and either choose specific links to open or open all at once.

The problem is that I have a whole lot of pages, mostly webcomics, that only update once every couple of days. What I want is something for Firefox that will let me put a single button on my toolbar that will monitor a list of pages for updates, will display them on demand without having downloaded anything more than the title of the update, and will let me open everything at once. Essentially, I want a live bookmark that monitors multiple pages.

I tried putting a bunch of RSS feeds into a folder and putting that onto my toolbar, but it won't let me open all the feeds by clicking on the folder. It makes me click every RSS feed individually, which wasn't the point. Also, it loads all the old updates, and I don't know how to clear them. I want it to just show me the items I haven't read yet. I also want it to either let me open unread items only, or to remove items once I've opened them.

I want to access it from a button on my Firefox toolbar. I can't stress that enough. I don't want another program, and I don't want something that's going to open other windows or sidebars or scrolling feeds or what have you.

I understand that I'm extremely picky, and I apologize for it, but I will be appreciative of anyone who can point me in the right direction.
