asus gtx 560 ti or pny gtx 470 ? - Page 3

despite the diference in clock speeds, the 560 ti will best the 470 9 out of 10 times not to mention the 560 uses less power and asus 560 ti has the direct cu II colling unit which works far better than the reference cooler used by pny... in conclussion 560 ti all the way
post #22 of 32
I would recommend the GTX 560 over the GTX 470 because it is cooler and uses less power. Though their performances are nearly identical (see below graphs). However, considering you already have a GTX 460, you should just get another one for SLI. That would give you a better performance than the other options.

The GTX 470 is constantly beaten in nearly all games by the Radeon 5870. You can see the proof in the below graphs from a quite recent review (which would nullify your argument that with newer drivers the GTX 470 beats the 5870).

I think what you meant to say is that the GTX 470 beats the Radeon 5850

do not believe that benches ... coz i personally benched the GTX 560 vs GTX 470
they have 5% performance difference...
i've tried them on 4 games
GTA IV / METRO 2033 / CRYSIS / Mafia II -> 1920x1200 maxed
on GTA IV GTX 560 got : 61.58 and GTX 470 63.11
Metro 2033 GTX 560 : 22-30 fps and GTX 470 30-35
Crysis GTX 560 : 22.14 fps GTX 470 26.93 fps
Mafia II (physx HIgh) GTX 560 30.6fps and GTX 470 41.5 fps
you can see difference
coz 560 has 1950M transistors and the 470 is 3200M transistors
560 (256 bit) 470 (320)
560 (less shader) than 470
560 has more texture units like 64 vs 56
470 has more ROP's 40 vs 32
after overclocking the both cards
their difference is 6/13% depend on manufacturer and how far you are overclocked both

Well you may be right, since I have never tested a GTX 560, but according to this review, the GTX 560 at stock beats the GTX 470 at stock and sometimes overclocked (SC edition) in all games listed including CoD6, Metro 2033, Crysis Warhead, Far Cry 2, BFBC2, Dirt 2 and Anno 1404.

really... stop posting up reviews,

you get the set up that matches and compliments the games you play

certain games cater ATI more than nvidia, certain games like sli more than another,

certain drivers factor in also,

do the testing yourself and see what works better, but i would never reccomend products based solely on reviews from third party and website vender supplied review sites

both cards perform about the same, and 5-6fps difference won't kill anyone

moot point being pay for less with last gen or pay more for current gen

I had an i7 930 / 460 SLI that I sold to a friend. Bought 2600k with 560TI SLI and we've compared the difference on fps using BFBC2.

560 SLI OC 900/2100 1920x1080 = 160~180fps (stock voltage)
Idle: 27/24 C
Load: 56/54 C

460 SLI OC 850/1900 1920x1080 = 120~140fps (stock voltage)
Idle: 48/46 C
Load: 74/72 C

Physx : Both pointed to CPU

2600K OC to 4.5
930 OC to 4.0

No, a PSU cannot bottleneck your card, unless it's so weak that it prevents you from OC/OV'ing your rig up as far. IOW, as long as your system RUNS, you'll get the same FPS as anyone else at the same clocks even if your PSU is crappy.

That is WAY too much money for that PSU. There are FAR FAR better units in that price range. The TR2 line is ... not very good. I mean, it'll work and everything but, like I say ... there's a lot better units for $105.

Also, for $60 less, the 470 is a way better bang/buck card vs. a 560.
