the 2500k does have a boost of 5-15% in gaming performance over the 760, depend on what game u r playing, still not worth it to spend 400$ just to get those 5-15% boost if u already have an 760 running.

Go with the Sandy.... equal and in some applications, better then the i7 980x.
Easily overclockable and a way higher performance than the i5 760 but there is always the price diffrence

Thats great.... im just stating the facts, I wasnt saying its better. I was simply leting the OP know that the i5 2500 was better than the i5 and showing him that in some applications its just as powerfull as the i7 9xx chips.

For gaming, and I'm a gamer, there is no point in upgrading FROM an i5 760 to an i5 2500k. The 760 is still a very powerful gaming proc when overclocked to 4+ ghz. If you feel the need for hyperthreading which 95% of the time does not help games at all, the 2600k is a good buy.

I'll say it again, the 760 is a very good processor, good buddy of mine rocks it at 4.2ghz.

@ Krymore +1 for thread ownage with legit sources <3

I agree , As someone who regretted going the 1156 -i7 (instead of X-58)route from the first week I got it ,I am patiently waiting for the next generation to do an upgrade. I am tempted to grab a 2600K and a Sabertooth or Asus Maximus ,but there really is no reason ,other than E-Peen to do anything at this point. I have 3 Kids that are costing me a good amount of my Tech $$ anyway . 12 year old Son ,just got i5 Laptop ,9 year old Daughter, Macbook Pro C2D ,and 7 year old Daughter , got a Sony Vaio(Purple) Core i3 Blu-Ray!! I am tapped!
