Which LED backlit screen for gaming should I consider?

I guess I live under a rock, so much so that I didn't even realize I was under a rock if you catch my drift. When I ventured out from underneath said rock, and yes it is a nice one, I was shocked to discover that the whole monitor game had changed. LED back lighting is the latest thing. I really need some opinions before I decide to drop any cash. Give me some options of good 23+" screens for gaming, LEDs only and non-IPS (seems unnecessary for gaming?), which should I consider?

You don't need to jump on the LED bandwagon. It actually has next to no benefits when compared to a standard CCFL LCD and actually can infact give the monitor a blue tint.

LED's just get to full brightness almost instantly whereas CCFL takes a couple of minutes. That is all.

LED backlights are only worth it in laptops, where the reduced power consumption equates to longer battery life. Speaking from purely an image quality standpoint, they are worse than CCFL. Of course, the exception to this rule is RGBLED array backlighting, but it's rare and still isn't THAT much better.

If you want to upgrade your monitor go for IPS. Otherwise you're just wasting your money and you might as well stick with what you have.

Wow that's really helpful, I'm glad I asked before I spent any money.
