Dell u2711, Backlight Qs

How do I turn off the function that automatically turns down the backlight when the screen is "mostly" dark, but might have a few colors or white letters, making them seem greyish?

I was wondering the same thing, but technology at the moment is very limited, LCD monitors are just sh**ty for black colour.

Can't wait for large amoled display or something.

I though that referred to dynamic contrast techniques or something? I've only seen my monitor adjust that in Game mode, which I never use anyway. I'll go to set it and my display will progressively get brighter in steps. If the UltraSharp U2711 does this by defaul and in all modes, and it can't be disabled, that'd surprise me.

Yes I do believe that Dell labels it as DCR on their on screen menu. Find it and disable it and it should be good to go.

Yes, on mine, it is simply labeled as Dynamic Contrast under the "Display" menu.
