Cool'n'Quite is no longer working

Thread Starter
I set the multiplier of my Phenom X4 955 to 20 to reach 4.0GHZ but I noticed that Cool'n'Quite is no longer working. Now It's set back to "Auto" and it still doesn't wokr.

Cool N Quiet will kill itself at certain multipliers. Mine does it at 19.0 and higher. So I set mine to 18.5 and the rest of my OC on FSB. Works fine.

As for setting it back, put it on enable instead of auto. Or, if on auto make sure in Windows your "power option" is on balanced or power saver. If on High Performance it will not kick in.

Did you check your Windows power settings? Is your cpu voltage at stock?

Now I switched to "Power Saver" and everything is fine. Thank you! It's weird, before the clock, power settings were "Balanced" and it was working... However, now it works. Thanks!

Should work on balanced as well. Just give it a few minutes.

I found AMDOverdrive messed up the power profile that was currently being used and CnQ wouldn't work again untill I reimported the power profile from a virgin OS install. I don't use AOD just installed it to check it out. That could explain why your Balanced profile is no longer enableing CnQ though.

I'd recomend you check out PhenomMsrTweaker instead of using CnQ, much more fine tunnning available. I use it to lower vcore to 0.9v at x4, saves 17w idle consumption.. brilliant program.

CnQ shouldn't affect your OC, but sometimes at high multis CnQ can stop working altogether.
You shouldn't be overclocking on that board without VRM cooling on it; is this present?
