I could be wrong and agree 2gb is never a bad thing to have considering they are the exact same price.

It is a hard decision because they are the same price you havnt got that to argue a point lol. I wonder if anyone has had any first hand exp with both.
u are making right choice by going with hd6970

If you don't play Mafia 2, Mirror's Edge, Metro 2033 or Arkham Asylum then ATI is a good choice. From what I've seen the HD6970 is faster and with a bit of OC you should surpass the GTX 580. However, PhysX adds realism to games that use it so that's a trade-off imo.

It draws less power than the 6970 but it also has weak VRM's that fry due to OC'ing.

I'd personally get the GTX570 because I don't OC my GPU's, but that's up to you.
Not sure about the point on power usage, all the reviews I have seen put the 570 as drinking more, its close but still more. Everything else is something to weigh up, personal preference really.

The 570 has been out for almost 4 months and only around 10 cards fried most of them from disabling over current protection and running furmark (this kills 580's also). They are safe for overclocking just dont disable OCP or unlock the voltage limit. If it still dies it was faulty to begin with RMA it.

With the latest drivers the 570 is now faster overall than the 6970 same with the 560 over the 6950.
