free bump? Any thoughts?

GTX470 is a 225W GPU. 3 x 225W = 675W + 200W OCed Core i7, 100W for Fans, MB = 975W so in reality you need 1000W+ if you push it. Myself with Overcloked GTX470, Water Cooling, About 10 fans, 5 HDDs, Core i7 OCed ~ 550W @ Max possible situation. Counting efficiently ~ 480W Add 400W for 2 more GPU ~ 880W which tells me 850W should do for 95% of the time unless you try Furmark and Prime95 at the same time you will overload the PSU which sometimes can not handle it. Folding should be no problem. A basic rule is that the about of PCIE should tell you how many cards its can run.

lol
course I won't try furmark and prime/linx at the same time

I only stress test 1 component at a time during OC'ing

so folding should be fine for tri-sli.....time to save those pennies for a 3rd 470 then

The TX950 is built off a completely different platform. It would not be fair to compare it to a 850. While it is true that the TX850 is underrated spec wise, I would never be comfortable with regularly trying to squeeze 1000W from the 12V (it wouldn't be able to sustain 1000W for very long).

When in doubt, rather than theorycrafting I like to go to hard numbers:

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...-sli-review/23

You can see that under load they measured their tri-470 solution as pulling 794W from the wall. Remember that's wall pull however, so even assuming that it's being 85% efficient (which I'd doubt) that'd only be 675Watts to the system. You're still 175 watts under output. You're more than fine.

The power usage of additional GPU's don't scale like that. And 200w for an overclocked i7?

The TX850 isn't underrated. It's almost on edge of what the CWT PSH platform can do.

Corsair generally underrates their power supplies.
