mATX MAGNUM ??? - Page 8

I completely forgot about this thread. This just lit up my hopes for a mATX bulldozer build. Now just for a UD7 or Crosshair V GENE mATX board.

IDEAS!

height = one 360 rad (or a 280 rad) + one 5.25in drive bay (or put the drive bay on the side towards the back). keep the height as little as possible but fit as big a rad as possible as intake.

only one out fan, but with the option to have more. however, only having a back fan will leave room to put the drive bay in creative places.

dont have hard drive cages. do what the ft03 and other cases have done, and put the hard drives vertically so you dont really have to leave room for them, but you can just slide them behind the motherboard.

side note: i would love a case that is the shape of a home theater receiver. the whole front could be a 360 radiator on its side, and maybe 3 5.25in hard drive bays right below or above it (next to each other, not on top)

hope this gets some ideas flowing, whether you use these or not. would love to see a slick case labs matx case in production. my next build will be microatx

i personally dont see the point of all of the full size atx boards that people have with only one graphics card in them, and nothing else. i mean, with a micro atx board, you can have two graphics cards, or a graphics card and two other cards. that is more than enough for most people. i personally have a graphics card, sound card, and internet card. if i could hard wire my internet, (i would be happier and) i would probably get a sound capture card or something for making beats.

if this happens im so buying one (prob) id like to see a small Matx case that can fit a moderate gpu size while still maintaining a classic matx sized case but its gota be SMALL as in JUST SMALL ENOUGH no more

as to the design, when i see these small cases they always have problems getting your hand in to disconnect things and so i would suggest you guys make the case have many hinges and locks that i can say open the roof/front/back/1side

would make life alot easier

also the no hard drive cage ideas catching for a reason. hard drive cages imo are generally unsightly/wasted space in most cases and especially small cases (the m8 i have its ^&*#&$*%# sick looking with its hdd cage tho) and it would be pretty cool an a great space saver.

maybe create something to funnel the psu heat out of the case like a panel that isolates it from the rest of the comp

if its only going to be 4 inches smaller then the m8 then just make it a more affordable ATX/Matx case imo. for people who want your cases but maybe not internal watercooling. you have a rad mount but just make them external

I can't imagine it will be before Q1 2012, my best guess would be mid 2012. Design hasn't even started for the merlins yet.

This is my dream mATX build that I am planning:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1167688/arc-mini-build-input-thread-3930k-crossfire-complete-watercooling

Intel Core i7-3930K
Asus Maximus GENE X79
G.Skill 16GB 2133Mhz Quad CL9
2x AMD 7950 2GB
SilverStone ST1000-P (80+ Silver)

This I am planning to cool with these parts:

XSPC RayStorm (Red LED)
XSPC Rasa (Acetal - Two)
XSPC EX360 (Top)
XSPC RX240 (Front)
Swiftech MCP35X + Swiftech Reservoir
(2x Bitspower Galaxy Freezer - 2-DIMMs) - Only maybe
5x CM XtraFlo 120 Red LED (Running at 7V)
Alphacool 13/10 Fittings - Deep Black
Primochill PrimoFlex Pro Clear- Tubing
PrimoChill ICE Non-Conductive - Blood Red

All this is going in a Fractal Arc Mini biggrin.gif .... But if there is going to be a mATX Case from Case Lab, I would wait and see how it will be redface.gif .... But when overclocking both a high end i7 and 2x GPU with high Voltage, the heat is massive and 1x 360mm and 1x 240mm (at least) would be nice to fit inside the case. Maybe some of the ideas from my thread can be used .... Dont need to fit 10x 2TB HDD and 4x Bluray drives, waste of space IMO.

Would love to hear more about your mATX Case biggrin.gif

Our mATX case will be part of the "Merlin" (yet unnamed) series. It will be large by mATX standards, but much smaller than the M8. Look for early prototypes by mid/late January.
