SATA 3 (6.0 GBps) Controller Card?

Whats the best possible one to get, I need support for 2 hard drives at least.

I am planning on getting a C300 and my Seagate is already SATA 3 compatible, so I might as well hook that up too. Preferably PCI-E.

as for the c300 you realy need a sata III controller (hard to see that you will change the dual cpu mobo for some fancy ocing mobo with sata III ports XD) but, there are a 2nd gen sata III ssds. look for vertex 3 or intel 510 and c400, worth to buy, and i realy recommend you to screw seagate hdds. last years were not so great for them. buy samsungs F3. fast cheap, solid not failing drives. also sata III for hdd is a marketing crap.

as for controller. the LSI is only way. adaptec and others just standed in one point.. look for one with the onboard memory cache. but be aware that there is still not many of sata III controllers.

you say that you will need for at least two drives. but how many you are planning to use? if it will be like + 6, use one with more onboard memory (like +256 MB)

cant say any model cos i simply dont know them dig the LSI site and check for price in web, and buy the best for you

Yeah, I have seen LSI as a common suggestion, I will take a look, the newegg reviews aren't so hot though.

I purchased an LSI 9240-4i and it's great.

I'm using a Crucial 256GB C300 and it's a definate improvement over the Intel SATA3 Gb/s ports but you probably wouldn't notice it in day to day usage.

I purchased the card to run a RAID0 setup using two of the Crucial drives which would be crippled with an ICH10 chipset.
