Corsair AX850 in a Corsair Obsidian 800D

Thread Starter
I am working on a new computer build. I read some reviews that the cables are short and bad for cable management on the Corsair AX850. This case is huge and I plan on having very clean cable management. I am going with the Asus Rampage III Extreme for my mobo. If anyone can shed some light on this with their experience, I would appreciate it.

The AX850 is fully modular, so that helps with cable management right there. The Obsidian has a lot of really nicely set up places for cable routing and management. I would say that given the slightly short cable lengths of the AX850 things might be a tiny bit tight in some cases, depending on what cables and how many you run, but for the most part it should be fine. There is no cable included that is less than 600mm (23.5 inches) long at it's full length (though there may be some wasted connectors of course) and many that are more than 850mm (33.5 inches). For a case that is 24x24 that should be plenty (pythagoreas says if for some reason you wanted to stretch a cable from one diagonal to the other you'd need only 34 inches ).

The obsidian 800D might be too big for the ax 850, i have the ax 750 in an antec 902 mid tower case and i have to say, while the build and performance are awesome, the cable are way too SHORT even for an mid tower, u can look around from review ull see alots of peoples having problem with the cable length fron this serie.

The 8Pin CPU barley reaches behind the mobo tray and up to the plug on the mobo in a CM690II

So basically it's looking like you might need to find another PSU, the AX850 is awsome but I guess the cable length is lacking.

I have an AX850 and a Corsair 800D using them together with no problesm whatsoever. The case came with an 8 pin extender IIRC and i use that for my CPU power and everything else works fine. Just my 2 cents

Well cable extensions are good, how much would a 8 pin cost about?

It comes with an 8pin extender from what I'm told...mine didn't...no biggie.
OR, you can pick up NZXT or Modright brand presleeved extensions...they cost anywhere from $3-$11 depending on the extension.
