I recently uninstalled quite a few extensions cuz it was bogging me down. The ones I have installed still are

Adblock
Disconnect
Facebook Disconnect
FlashBlock
Ghostery
Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on (by Google)
Google SSL Web Search beta (by Google)
Keep My Opt-Outs
SocialPlus!
Speed Dial
Stop Autoplay for Youtube
Ultimate Chrome Flag

Also I have installed, but disabled:

MegaUpload DownloadHelper
PanicButton
Rapidshare DownloadHelper

I tink...I'm good now wit' dis setup. It's faster now. But I was wondering if there was a program, like on IE9, where it will tell you what extensions are bogging you down. I hate to uninstall more extensions though, since they just polish off my Chrome experience.

Hope this is the right thread... didn't want to spam the entire forum with a new thread. Just wanted to post a quick plug for an extension I found and have been using frequently enough that I even signed up for a 30-day paid "Pro" version (that alone says a lot, if you knew how notoriously chintzy I am when it comes to spending money on apps).

This one's called DebridMax. Feed the download engine the URL to a file and it will hand your download manager the URL to the premium-download-speed of that file. Really handy, and allows you to download without waiting. I love it. Works on Rapidshare, Uploadstation, Depositfiles, Fileserve, etc. I have found it very handy. Extensions for Chrome and Firefox (have only used Chrome version).

Website
Chrome Extension
Firefox Extension

**I am not affiliated in any way with the site or product. This is just an honest plug for a good product.

Enjoy!

Trust me, I shall go through this thread as well as two others by xd_1771 and learn what I can. Great threads BTW!

Background: I am running FF5 off an SSD, so speed does not present itself as a problem - yet. (Win 7 64 bit, 16 GB DDR3, yada, yada)

I had to ditch multirow bookmarks toolbar (tried both the old and the new), cause if I coughed, sneezed or belched, my 2nd row disappeared w/out warning. Also, did not play well with other add-ons, especially color palettes to customize the UI. (Found RoomyBookmarksToolbar to be just what I need - so far causes no problems and works well.)

Question: How in the world can I modify the color scheme of FF5's UI. I'm getting "blued to death" and would like alternatives to this emetic.

Please understand I am a math and logic guy - and completely not at all artistic. Is there a way for such a Neanderthal like me to soften, brighten, alter and customize the colors of the FF UI?

If there is a better thread in which to post this question, kindly let me know. I am not a thread-hijacker (at least I try not to be.)

I had Stylish with this for a while, and there's some others as well if you search.

Then I installed a new dark windows theme which FF follows.

When I first went to the Stylish website, I was really excited at its possibilities. Yeh, I'm sure I could invest countless hours and try to figure it out but ...

Is there not something "stupidly simple" whereby you can:

1) choose from a set of color templates
-or-
2) drag colors from a palette to the location you desire to colorize. It seems like in my distant memory there was something that simple ages ago.

Once again, I am not a Photoshop, Paint, etc. type of guy - nor do I intend to become one, because I know my limitations. My aptitudes lie in other areas, definitely not in the "arts".

Addendem: I have had quite a rough day, so I may not have said things in the nicest of ways. It just seems like some things are a whole lot harder than they were even 15 years ago; just to accomplish even the simplest of things. And, no, I'm not longing for the good ole days of Win NT.

(Guess I've been "blued to death".

Have you looked at Personas, prolly the simplest. If there is a way to drag colours from a palette I'd like it also.

Thanks Darren9, I found that by Googling the world. Will surely check it out. Also, just installed Rainbow Color Tools 1.1 and will play with it tomorrow. Both look so easy even a caveman could do it.

Thanks so very much for all of your suggestions. While I might seem like a superficialist, I did check out your (Darren9) profile and judging from your very impressive profile picture I am inclined to follow any and all advice you might have to offer. So much intelligence there seems to be.
