1tb f3 noise

Thread Starter
Built my sig rig yesterday and everything is super quiet except for the hdd.
Noticed it when I was having a mess around playing chess, it made a wierd noise whenever a peice moved.
Fast forward 24 hours and I'm starting to notice the noise quite a bit, every few seconds it'l make a wierd noise, rather starting to get annoying
What's the problem?
Anyway I can check the health of it?
Could it be a loose cable going into it?
HDD is 1TB f3 OEM has everything on it, including my OEM Windows 7 and it's currently sitting on my CPU cooler box

HDTune.
Check it for bad sectors and run a health test the report back.

The F3 tends to make an odd noise now and then, but not as often as you are describing. It may be in need of an RMA.

GSmartControl.

The free version of HD Tune doesn't give enough necessary detail or allow you to run drive self-tests.

Edit: Your drive looks fine. Since you got the Pro trial version, see if it will run an extended self-test. Then come back in a couple of hours when it's finished.

There is a tab under HDTune marked "Error Scan", simply select that tab and then click the Start button (without quickscan checked).

I think your hd is fine, just a little bit of noisy and Since your hd smart health showing everything is normal.

Also you can try downloading software from samsung website to see if the drive is ok if it pass the test I wouldn't worry about the noise, If i remember my samsung hd made little bit of noise when i first plug it in after using for weeks didn't hear any noise anymore.

No, you don't have to buy another OEM copy of Windows if you replace your hard drive.

Anyway, the few Samsung drives I've owned were always kind of noisy, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Unless the self-test turns up some serious problem, I'd say you have no issues.
