Real docs dont use ipads, in the working environment, you dont want to lose that hundreds of dollar equipment. People just use the computers on the wards (they have lots of programs for reference).

Just get whatever phone you want, but it really makes little difference when you are working. I dare you to pull out your ipad infront of your consultant/attending.

I use my droid for a number of nice medical apps. I don't know what's out there on the Apple, but I haven't been at a loss for most of the well-known references, like Epocrates.

Android has become prevalent enough that all worthwhile references will be made available through the droid marketplace - if not already, then soon.
