Dent in screen

Thread Starter
So, just got my BRAND NEW netbook setup with linux, windows 7 updated, programs installed, defragged, etc

My great ol dad thought it would be fun to through a 1/8" speaker cable at me and it dented my screen. Not horrendous, but enough to piss a guy off. Any way to repair this? Or should I try to exchange it?

No way to fix it besides getting a new lcd, which is ~$100 at least for a 15 inch 1920x1080..

so either you can go the route of replacing it yourself, deal with it, or be dishonest and return it and claim it was like that when you bought it.

Depending on how you feel about the issue, you could just return it.
It's certainly not ethical, but if I was in your situation I would probably do it.

That is what I am kinda leaning towards. I was going to get a screen cover sometime this week, to prevent things like this. But..that certainly doesn't seem practical at this given moment.

Had I have owned it for more than a few days, I probably wouldn't have even considered returning it..however in this case it seems to be the most worthwhile option.

I understand that he should in essence pay for it, but at the same time it wouldn't quite feel right. I mean, the whole recession thing is a bit of a kicker

If money wasn't an issue, I wouldn't think twice about purchasing a new one. I mean, we aren't that hard up on money or anything. We can live comfortably, but every dollar still counts. Especially with college coming up for me in a year.
