Tossing up between buying a XFX 750 Black Edition and a Corsair AX750 PSU.

Save the cash and go for the XFX unless you really value full modularity.

I'm buying from the cheapest online store in Australia http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=15

XFX 750 Black Edition = $174
Corsair AX750 = $218

I guess maybe looking at the HX series could be an option but Im finding a lot of good reviews on the XFX

Keep in mind XFX's psu is pretty top notch. Built off of seasonic, iirc...so are some of corsair's psu. Im not sure if the ax series is manufactered by seasonic, but yeah. modularity worth 30 bucks? idk

The AX750 performs marginally better than the XFX 750W Black Edition and offers full modularity. They're both made by SeaSonic although based on different platforms. For me the AX750 wouldn't be worth it but it is one of the best 750W on the market, with the Corsair HX750 and XFX 750W Black Edition close seconds. If you care for the extra tiny bit of efficiency and full modularity, that's your choice right there. If you don't care that much or would rather save the $30, then get the XFX, you'll be happy with it.

Both are seasonic units, but XFX would be a better choice overall.

The AX is the better unit, but the XFX is cheaper. Either would be a good choice.
post #9 of 15
yeah...xfx for the cost and if you can stand the color.
ax for modularity.

Maybe a better arguement would be the XFX750 vs HX750

HX750 = $189
XFX750 = $174

At the moment XFX looks ok for the price, but for not much more, having piece of mind may be worth the extra dollars.
