CM 690 ii additional / replacement fans?

Thread Starter
I just ordered a CM 690 ii advanced for my latest build. I am wanting to add another fan to the top and a 2nd fan to the front. I believe I would need 2 140mm fans. What fans would be good to fill these spots also I would like them to maintain the blue led's.

Go for the new Scythe Kama Flex 135mm (fits onto 140mm holes), Thermalright TY-140, Xigmateks or Yate Loons.

I also kept the blue led look with mine, I bought both the 120mm and 140mm versions of these Coolermaster fans:
http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=2967
I wanted to mention that the 690II does not have any physical provision for adding a second fan to the front of the case, but there is enough room for one, either 120mm or 140mm.
But, if you choose to use a 140mm fan in the front, it will intrude slightly into the very top slot where a Dvd-Rom would normally go. I also added a second fan to the front of my case but chose a 120mm to avoid losing the Dvd spot. This requires a fan bay adapter to install a 120mm fan in front, unless you use cable ties or some other attachment method.
I also installed another 140mm fan in the bottom of the case to bring fresh air up into the video card. I just use one 140mm fan on the top of the case though.
When you get your 690II, you will be better able to see what works best for you. It's a very versatile case.
By the way, have a look at the Coolermaster 690 thread here, it's full of good info and posts on anything to do with the Coolermaster 690/690II cases:

Just out of curiosity. How add a second fan to the front? I added a 120mm with some ghetto ziptie system where the 5.25 bays are but There isnt enough space for a 140mm there.

Actually the front is only supposed to take one 120/140 fan, not two of any kind. smile.gif

Zipties =D just use 4 black zipties underneath the CD drive in the 5 1/2 bay I will only have 1 DVD drive and 2 Harddrives in the machine so it will fit. I did that to a friends when I built it in this same case about 6 months ago.

And ok so it was 120 not 140 I couldnt remember thanks

You'll need a Sharkoon Rebel 9 Fan Frame that you can buy cheaply on online computer websites.

Here's a pic of mine.

Yeah but we're talking about the 3 5.25" bays that can hold a 120mm fan.

Thanks Quack that looks awesome but where can I get one in the US? Without paying $20 bucks for shipping from the UK?
You don't need a frame for the fan. Just use zip ties. They work just fine.

Not sure but there's got to be a US site that has them. Try amazon or newegg. I can't seem to search google for US store because it know I have a UK IP address and it auto changes to google.co.uk for shopping.
