Budget build for a friend - Page 3

Here's a way to squeeze a propus into the build:

Propus 640 X4 + 550W PSU

Asus 780L

4GB RAM

Seagate 500GB

Case

Optical

That's $336.

OP: I also found an AsRock Motherboard that should be great for your friend. They have good customer service, in part because they're a subsidiary of ASUS.

That puts it at $341 with a $20 MIR on the PSU, so $321.

Hows that mobo? anyone familiar with it?

Thanks guys, +rep will be added to all those that helped....
Overpriced 1333 CL8 memory is overpriced! Very! Once again, go with the Team 1600 CL9 I suggested. $5 cheaper, will immediately outperform that kit at rated 1600 CL9 vs 1333 CL8, and overclock further if ever.

Stick with the Team ram. Good quality stuff. Any of the mobos are good that have been posted, but the Biostar will give you the newest chipset, most modern onboard gpu, and 4 ram slots, not to mention a good price.

This would be a very good build.

X3 435 $72 shipped
Lian-Li / Biostar 880g combo $120 shipped
Team ram $45 shipped
Samsung f3 500GB $50 shipped
Corsair CX430 $23 shipped after rebate
LG optical drive $21 shipped

$331 shipped after a $20 mir. You could save $10 with the seagate HDD that xd suggested, I just put the Samsung in there so that it all comes from one place and it is a good drive.
It's so little!

Great suggestion, though I wouldn't spend on any more than $40 for that Seagate 500GB. The F3 500GB may be higher quality and all, but at this price point... spend the extra $5 and get twice the hard drive space with F3 1TB at $55 shipped

Very true, but it is so easy to say that for everything in the build and end up at $500 before you know it

Not to hijack the thread, but the Biostar Mobo states that the memory standard is only 800/1066/1333. Would it be able to support the 1600?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138283

Thinking about grabbing one of these for my dad's HTPC build which utilizes 1600 RAM.
