I had my monitor for about 4 years now...its a HP x1907 [ame="http://www.amazon.com/HP-W1907-19-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B000OK1046"]http://www.amazon.com/HP-W1907-19-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B000OK1046[/ame]

Specs:
All default.

GFX card : 460 GTX 1gb
Monitor @ 1440x900 60hz

The problem is bad quality with a block like pixel form. As shown below; I encounter these during cut scenes in games/videos like(Total War, HD(720ip+ Vids on Youtube), and any other type of games I play with), usually in every part there are cutscenes; it gets worst than that. An example is during the transition cut scenes in COD Black Ops.

Do you guys think Its time for me to buy a new monitor or is my settings wrong? Because I'm thinking of getting either a ASUS VH238H (if out of stock from Bestbuy, then the VH236H) or ASUS ML228H

Those look like compression artifacts. In short, lots of video files are compressed for bandwith/space saving issues on streaming sites and in games. When they are "decompressed" and shown full screen you occasionally get the blocky artifacts you're describing.

They'd be even more apparent on a higher res monitor.

Not a problem at all really. Just a side effect of the format smile.gif
