Anyone with AT&T Internet? - Page 2

I am on AT&T in the Dallas area. I am on DSL and I believe the 6Mb plan since it costs me $45 a month. Anyway, I wouldn't say it sucks and I would say it was great, it's just what it is. I am checking out my local cable company, Suddenlink, to see what they offer since they just came to my neighborhood. I will say that it seems like AT&T throttles me if I do a lot of consecutive downloads and I do not do torrents, so I am not sure why I would be targeted. It's not like I do a lot of downloading often. Anyway, I would make sure you get a 30 day trial period of some sort and run it along side your Comcast to see which one you like better. Also, remember with DSL, the further away from the node you are the worst your speeds are, so make sure you ask if they can guarantee your speeds.

It just so happens that I currently have both lol

Comcast has a higher upload and slightly higher download most of the time.

AT&T, while slower, is much more consistent though. There are times when I'm downloading games and such when Comcast gets ridiculously slow, so unless its a smallish file I use AT&T for my downloads.

I'll be getting U-verse. I sincerely hate Comcast. While the speed was great, the line itself works when it wants to. The connection gets lost at the modem AT LEAST 15 times a day and about every 6 months our cable goes out, causing a frustrating 4 day outage (seriously, why the hell does it take them 4 days to get to your house after the initial call? THAT'S RIDICULOUS.)

Overall, I've had nothing but trouble out of Comcast, but I love the 2Mb/s while torrenting and wish I didn't have to give it up...

And FiOS is not available in my area, sadly, or I would've had them AGES ago.

I have ATT dsl and hate it... the internet speed and att lies.
I just called 2 days ago to move to U-verse and got the 12mb connection and cable bundle so I didn't have to pay for the forced technician for $149.99 and "free" modem.
I asked them at least 3 times that if I got the tv cable bundled I wouldnt have to pay for the technician installation and the modem would be free. I just checked the email they sent me today with the order and there is a $4 dollar rental fee for the modem.

They alway's lie and screw you up. I guess it's my fault because they did thsi to me last time getting dish through them. I guess I was hoping they wouldn't screw me up this time.

The worst thing is that the only decent internet provider besides Att is charter, but their max speed is 3mb in my area and for more than what att charges.

Just becarefully and if you can record/save the order you do.

I'm using AT&T U-Verse though I don't recall which speed plan exactly we're on.

The first three DVR boxes went bad and took all the recordings with them (no way to download them)though the gateways have been fine.

Pretty much had the same experience with Comcast. The connection got dropped so many times a day we had to give them a call. So they sent over some guy who basically just walked in my room, said "Ok the problem here is your router and the computer it is hooked up to" then left and we still got charged. He didn't even bother checking anything. After that I just had to switch over to At&t since it was the only other thing available. Only problem I've had so far with at&t is that their 2Wire modem/router they gave us...pretty much just blew up and stopped working.

I hate both of them.I am on U-Verse right now and my ping 30 miles away is shooting up to 150ms and my rate is hovering around 3 mbps download.Normally it is pretty good-but you do get congestion, atleast where I am at.

this, i got the same ATT plan

if your in Ga, do not switch, cant speak for other locations, but tested at&t in 3 locations so far, every time a hassle, and no where near as fast as comcast... gotta suck up that crappy service they provide but at least enjoy the speed at some points

I have AT&T w/ the up to 3MB/s plan.

Really, it depends on the quality of the connection.

I tried complaining to them one day that I was getting ~1MB/s one whole week, and the stupid customer support said, it's ok because the plan says "up to"...

You aren't guaranteed that connection download rate.

Well so far, I have a 2-2.5MB/s download and a 0.47 upload...

Horrible for upload but ok for download.

I would get Comcast over AT&T anyday.
