Anyone with AT&T Internet? - Page 3

Anyone here on their 6Mbps plan and want to take a couple seconds to run a speed test for me?

Also, what's your average speed when downloading torrents?

Your help will be extremely appreciated!
I remember having ATT dsl it sucked never got more then 360Kbits lol out of 1.5mbps. that was back in 2003 .

oh, and that's another thing i forgot to mention. ping in games tends to be high and then drop down. unless the server is really close by then expect the ping to be rather high. (100+). happens to me at least. ping isn't too stable

For me, my ping on Comcast is twice what it is on AT&T. 151ms vs. 61ms on speedtest.net
and on AT&T my Steam downloads usually average a maximum of around 750KB/s which is pretty damn close to my advertised speed of 6.0Mb/s
on a good day, which is pretty rare, I'll get 1.2MB/s with Comcast, but I usually get anywhere from 400-800KB/s with it.

:edit:
btw I don't have U-verse. I still have the normal AT&T Highspeed or whatever

I used to have Uverse and It was horrible, it may have just been the area I lived in but I would not recommend it.

I would also say do not switch. Comcast can be a pain someimtes but their speeds are great (at least in my area). I get 20Mup and almost 10M down. A little costly but worth it to me.

I pay $40 for 3mb/s here in Michigan.

You guys get internet CHEAP!

320KB/s MAX.

But at least it's consistent. ATT DSL.

Back home in illinois we have non uverse att internet and it is great. A lot faster and better than my friends that have comcast. At school here i have att uverse at my house and it is amazing too. So i say go for ATT and ditch comcast.

im in GA and they're offering $15 a month internet. i get 700kb/s down and get that during torrents. upload is like 30-33kb/s. that's on good torrents and depending upon peers etc

very happy with it, but watch out as they can play hell with your bill and probably will overcharge you for a month or 2. they've had to credit us for the money we overpaid (supposd to be $35 or so a month with a phone line strapped on) but on one month it was $50 something and in another it came to $83. we were being billed for the tier above us

it's fast at most times except from 6 to 12 midnight, and it's also uncapped. i personally couldn't be happier and coming from 110kb/s max dl's on torrents it's a nice jump.

i'd do a speedtest but i'm DLing something at the moment and don't want to stop (not resumable)
I'm in the exact situation and also in GA

I'm on 6mbit/s plan and it's quite fast but if you download torrents sometimes att slows my connection down to stupid 200kbyte/s... I think it just depends on the torrents that they decide to throttle your internet.

Anyway here it is:
-Download: 650-700kbyte/sec
-Upload: 40-55kbyte/sec

In my area, whenever it rains, my connection is intermittent on and off every 1 minute.... They sent technicians to check it once and never found a problem in my house so i think it's just stripped telephone line somewhere that the water hits...

Have used ATT personally for a few years now and have 0 complaints with their service really. Biggest drawback is that their website is a mess to navigate but you can always add / change features / pay bills over the phone. I achieve 1.3megabyte / sec downloads and 120-130k/sec uploads with my plan and it's always consistent and rarely ( 1-2 times in several years for a few hours) have experienced outages!
