Only water cool GPU?

Thread Starter
Hey guys I am a total nub to water cooling but I think I want to get into it, I am looking to cool my GTX 580 with water and I don't think I will add the cpu cooling until later because I am not getting bad temps so it's not worth the cash right now.

So I'm just wondering what is the most balanced (bang for my buck) kit/parts I can buy to just water cool my 580. I'd like to stay under 200 if that's possible. Help would be appreciated.

Something that comes to mind to me, is the xspc rasa rx360 kit, with an Ek gtx 580 block. That will run about $300, but it's with the cpu block. It's the best bang for your buck watercooling kit on the market. You could also get something like this:

Ek Gtx 580 block $110
Xspc rs360 radiator $50
Xspc X2o Pump/resorvoir combo $50
Some barbs and clamps $30ish
Distilled water $10ish
PT Nuke $7
Tubing $15

Which totals to about $272

So, I would just get the rx360 kit for like $40 more or so, and just use the cpu block. If you do buy the rx360 kit though, you also need to get some pt nuke and some distilled water.

there is no point in building a loop unless you plan on going all the way because upgrading a loop later is a MAJOR pain the the bum.

well first you have to get the card
then you have to get the water block
your at about 700.00 right there

get it from evga pre-assembled here:
http://www.evga.com/products/moreInf...s%20Family&sw=

it dont get any better

then you need a rad, pump, res, fittings, hose, fans

probably the most economical way to do this is to get the

xspc ras kit 127.99
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ra750rswakit.html

just put the cpu block up if you dont want to cool the cpu or sell it for 40-50.00 to recoop some cash

hookup the gpu block in place of the cpu block and your done

add a silver killkoil to that order when you order the rasa kit

For the price you're shooting for I'd say get an RS360 kit and an XSPC Razor GTX 580 (Cheapest full cover 580 block), though this is a bit over $200 (I guesstimate around $250), but it will come with tubes and most of the required fittings (needs 2 more for the GPU block). This will also cool the CPU.

Going for individual components,

Swiftech MCR220 with inegrated res - $60
Danger Den CPX Pro (or similar Jingway rebadge) - $60
XSPC Razor GTX 580 - $85

Comes out to $205 sans fittings.

Alternatively,

plain Swiftech MCR220 (no res) - $50
XSPC X20 750 (pump & res) - $50
XSPC 580 block - $85

Comes out to $185 sans fittings.

The first individual component list has a much better pump (so is more expandable in the future) and is easier to bleed because the reservoir is part of the radiator.

6 EK 3/8 inch barbs: about $15
10 feet masterkleer 3/8 inch ID 1/2 OD tubes - $10
6 primochill metal 1/2 OD clamps - $6
some kind of antimicrobial stuff -about $5
Distilled water - about $1

The only way to make it cheaper that I can think of is to use cheap PVC tubes or cheap worm drive clamps which are a pain to deal with.

I would just get a XSPC RASA RX360 kit and a GPU block for the 580. that would be about 300$ tho.

I would say a EK FC block for the GTX 580. 110$
HWLabs GTStealth 360 rad. 60$
Tubing 15$
Barbs+clamps around30$
PTnuke 6$
Distilled water around 10$

well for gpu block get the mcw 80 best cooler not a full block cover but 580 like 480 where u can take off the heatpipes and then mount mcw80 , for pump i would get 655 and 1/2 barbs and 7/16 tubing (inside diamitor) makes for a great fit. for rad what ever you can fix into case. witch is a 120.3 or 360 rad. i would get a thick rad like feser mount fans on one side. I got a spare 360 rad here. that u used on it its thin tho(haf 932 build) . Use disstilled water and killcoil.

Avoid acrylic because it cracks. You are better off with acetal + copper or acetal + nickel. Copper being the logical choice.

You will want a full cover block that will hit up the gpus/vregs/etc.... There a few different models so go with whatever looks the best in your case.

Here is a good tool by ek to make sure you get the right model:

http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/

Also you can pick up some TIM if you dont have any already here is a quick comparison sheet for TIM. The 2nd is a little older but still good.
