But if you can get 60fps and like color rendering then believe me you will definitely get the IPS panel. You'll also get spoilt. Man besides average usage, when I'm gaming, there's a whole lot of difference. I tried gaming on a two calibrated TN panels one an led 1920hd and the other a 1440. They both looked AWFUL. I wanted to smash them with a hammer.

The new monitor is for a completely new computer I'm buying. My sig rig is being passed down to my younger brother when he graduates high-school for his grad gift from me. My new build will include an i7 920 and a 570 GTX SC with 3x2gb 1600 memory to start.

Before you even said anything I was starting to lean more towards the IPS panel. I think I'm being slightly to critical for my needs. I have no interest in 3D, and I think I'll see more benefit out of the IPS. So the U2311 or the HP 24" 1920x1200. The HP costs a good bit more.... hmmm...

Yes I was quite aware, I've read the whole thread good sir. 16:10 = black bars when gaming. Keep 16:9 aspect ratio and get the Dell. I own 2 personally for 3+ months so yes I have experience in their usage and let me tell you they are simply exquisite. I don't have buyers remorse in the least

But the Dell has an 8ms response time. And since I'm a pretty hardcore gamer, that seriously wouldn't cut it for me. My monitors don't cut it for me. 60hz doesn't cut it for me. Depends on who you are and what you want, but that Dell definitely isn't a gaming monitor. And since the OP can get some very high-end hardware here, there's no sense in making compromises.

Alright buddy. You're eyes have special needs. They notice all that fps gain. Me I don't, I pay particular attention to color quality. I'd have an SIPS by now if I could afford one. Different strokes for different folks. If you can muster up 120fps while cranking out max settings with a 580 tri sli then by all means nvidia surround a few Alienware 23" 120hz screens. Me I don't see a difference between a 2ms and 8ms monitor playing the same game, but that's just me.

Take a serious look at the Samsung PX2370. I just picked one up for under $300 and couldn't be happier. 23 inch LED ultra thin, 2 ms response time, stellar contrast ratios for image quality, no ghosting issues for gaming, and a CNET editors choice monitor. Looks great, performs great, awesome value for the price.

So after all the debate you post a pos led tn panel? Cnets editors are quacks go begin with, that screen is extremely overpriced. It's contrast ratio is the same as any. 2ms is touted by many and ghosting is not really that big an issue. At this price you could nearly find 120hz monitors which are far superior to this hunk of trash. Ultrathin pfff. Do yourself a favor mang go return that monitor and pick yourself up a nice IPS panel or an asus panel that is significantly cheaper while still maintaining the exact same trashy specs.

Nothing against you good sir, just your monitor choice. Apologies in advanced.

No offense taken, just seemed a little harsh! I was just posting my experience with my monitor, which don't feel too bad for me because I had a giftcard towards it so I didn't pay anything near full price. Learned a long time ago to let stuff roll off my shoulders on boards. Anyway, I like my Samsung, great on games, great with movies, and looks great, to each his own, and not saying anyone else has to like it...
