[cnet]iPad 2 speed test shows it's 4x faster than original iPad, thrashes Android

Apple claims the new iPad 2 is significantly faster than the old version, but to get an idea of how much faster it really is, we ran a quick benchmark test on the new model in our brief hands-on time with it last night.
Strap in for a helluva ride as we compare its JavaScript numbers with the old iPad and competing Android devices. Don't tell us we don't know how to have a good time.

Don't mind the title... it's only in the SunSpider Javascript test... but good numbers, I can say I'm thrilled with iPad 2 AND iOS 4.3. I'd like to see the XOOM up there, they say they'll update the article once they can get their hands on one.

EDIT: I'd like to emphasis that I'm not posting this to show the iPad is the best in this test against Android slates, as the XOOM isn't in there yet. It's just to show good numbers for the iPad 2, and devices on iOS 4.3 for anyone who's interested.

Before anybody accuses anyone of Apple fanboism let it be known that he posted the title of the article and the news section is for discussing the article.

Disappointed that they didn't test a Xoom but the new JS engine is pretty nice.

Is the hardware at all comparable between the iPad 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab? I'm sure the Nexus S CELLPHONE's hardware isn't comparable to the 4x its size iPad 2 but atleast the tab is in the same category. I think this article needs to be renamed "iPad2 thrashed Galaxy Tab" lol...

edit: I would actually change the title now to "Dual core beats single core" after I looked up the specs for the Tab. The benchmarks are nice but the article is extraordinarily bias through being vague. Also the devices being tested appear to have some size differences.

You have to resist the blind urge to throw your money at aluminum shininess. It happened to me when I had to write a report on a macbook pro, I wanted one even though I would have absolutely no use for it. They're decent computers but they have no use for what I do.

Seems like most of the improvement comes from iOS 4.3. Just compare the score of iPad on 4.3 on iPad 4.2.
