*OFFICIAL* Rift Discussion Thread

Thread Starter
With so many copies being sold and it being such an awesome mmo, I thought this would be a perfect thread to talk about anything and everything about Rift. Such as specs you like, rotations, classes, professions, etc. What are your guys overall impression of the game so far?

Personally I really like it as a rogue. Give me your input and we can all help eachother out with speccing and what not.

Cheers!

I'm liking the game so far, although I do have to say I'm starting to get a strong feeling of "why am I playing this and not WoW".

That's not knock on the game by any means. I happen to think it's the best mmo to launch since WoW. I only say that b/c it hit me real hard last night. I had been gaming for quite awhile and took some time to start working on my crafting. Well sitting there grinding out the crafting and watching my armorsmith level go up 1 by 1 I started thinking to myself. "Why am I doing this? I have multiple toons on WoW all with max proffesions".

In short the game is so similar to WoW that I feel almost stupid by playing this and starting over from scratch when I have so much built into WoW lol.

People who hate wow and love this game will point out the two big differences and say they make Rift totally different but they really don't. The first one is the class system. It's true every class can in some way do pretty much everything. That is neat but honestly that's not THAT different from WoW. I mean the only difference is in WoW if I want to tank I simply log off a healer and log on a tank lol. In Rift you stay in game with same character. So yeah Rift is better in that regard as it saves you the oh I don't know 20 seconds it takes to switch characters.

The second thing are Rifts and Invasions. Those are different and more unique then anything WoW has. Hard to bash those really as they are just super fun.

This isn't meant to be a bash Rift post. As I said I actually think the game kicks ass! I just feel like if you are a current WoW player and have many hours invested there then you might feel alittle foolish starting over in a game so similar.

I'm really liking this game so far, they seem to have successfully merged all of the cool features from various MMO's and incorporated into one slick new game plus a few twists of their own, Graphic are really good too.

I like the game alot.

This may sound shallow but for me the graphics/visuals are WAY better and give the game an authentic feel like Dragon Age, not the cartoony feel of WoW.

I am ready for something new, I got a level 7 storm/pyro/dominator Mage and its fun as hell.
Talent system is way better.
