Found a Mech KB in my basement

Thread Starter
So after reading threads on mech KBs I remembered my first keyboard (when I was like 5), and how it was particularly clicky. After some searching in my basement mess....I found it....It is in fact a Fujitsu FKB4700 (using an AT connector) Now from what I've read the general opinion towards the "peerless" switches used is that they are absolute crap. But after typing on it a bit (not plugged into anything) I find it is superior to my lycosa, just needs a bit of cleaning and TLC (and an AT to ps/2 adapter). Imma happy clam right now as I essentially just got a free mech keyboard. Sorry for rambling, but its late and I have school tomorrow, and i'm very sleepy, so I really should be going to sleep....Ill update with pics when I get home tomorrow

'Grats! I wish I had that kind of hardware from way back. With the pack rat of a mom that I have, I would still have one...

The good. The bad. The Fujitsu Peerless! The only mechanical switch designed to feel like a rubber dome. Nice click though.

you don't need to buy a AT to ps/2 adapter
you can make one

just wire it like this

pin 1 AT to pin 5 ps/2
pin 2 AT to pin 1 ps/2
pin 3 Not connected. Reset on older keyboards
pin 4 AT to pin 3 ps/2
pin 5 AT to pin 4 ps/1

info on pin out here

I found two nice mechanical keyboards recently one in a thrift shop, and I found one in a dumpster three weeks ago at work. Funny how new keyboards compare to the older ones.

Mechanical FTW.

I have a Dell AT. I keep it stashed away. Thing is worth about 35 used, and I have it new in box.

I use a cheaper mechanical Compaq keyboard.

This isn't it, but it looks just like it. Obviously I've modded this keyboard...
