So far the Xai is looking like the better choice performance wise, the G500 is trailing right behind it.

I feel the G500 might be slightly more comfortable since it's made to be used right handed, I also like the extra weight and scrolling features on it.
Not having used one i cannot say for sure but rumour has it that the Xai has pretty nasty software, least that is mentioned in a few reviews may be fixed by now steel series tend to be pretty good but worth checking before you buy.

personally though I would just stick to the g5 and play with your settings to try and fix your problems as it most likely has nothing to do with your mouse.

death adder, XAI, mx518 are the favorite professional FPS mouses that track best and **** etc... mx518 is very small, deathadder is big, and XAI i don't know much about.

I use palm for the web and MMOs because I abuse my sidebuttons, though I haven't touched a MMO for nearly a year.

I use fingertip in all of my FPS games thanks to my comfy cushioned mousepad.
