SSD Upgrade Recommendations and Help

Hi,

I currently have:
2 x OCZ Vertex 30GB (Raid 0)
WD VelociRaptor 300GB 10K RPM 16MB

The reason I want to switch is because I feel like my SSD's are old/slow (~100mb/s) and am extremely tired of having programs and clutter across 2 pools because of low space...

I'm looking at
Crucial RealSSD C300 256GB
2 x Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB Raid 0
OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCI-E 240GB

My motherboard does up to SATA2, which means if I were to buy the single 256GB C300, or another SSD in that range which does SATA3, I feel like it would be a waste of potential.
Buying the 2 x 128GB C300's would also not solve the SATA3 issue, but I would get faster speeds than the single drive, and unfortunately still have to deal with multiple drives, which i don't think is that big of a deal since I wont need the third drive.
Buying a RevoDrive would eliminate the SATA3 issue, but I have heard the RevoDrives have big issues in terms of installation, maintenance due to lack of TRIM and drive life.

Thank you,
-Falven

A second issue with the 2xRAID Crucial drives is also the lack of TRIM. The Crucial drives, more so than Sandforce's or Intel's need TRIM to maintain good performance.

Crucial drives can really accelerate on SATA3 as far as sequential reads go, but aside from that where it really matters (random reads/writes) the C300 works well on SATA2. Also the 128GB C300s aren't as fast as the 256GB.

Have you thought of a Sandforce powered SSD? They're faster than the C300 on some workloads and they can handle better the lack of TRIM. For example 2xVertex2 120GB would be faster than any of the options above on a SATA2 board, and would probably be faster than the Crucial drives on most workloads even on a SATA3 controller.

Yes, I am open to all suggestions! I thought the C300 was faster, that's the only reason I picked it over others.
So SSD's in raid do not have trim??? This is strange considering my desktop says trim is enabled with my 2 Vertexes. Considering this is true, and I wanted to go with reliability (Not having to sanitary erase/reformat every x amount of time) then I would be better off buying a single drive? If so, which would I be better off with?

On another note, HDTune is reading ~100MB/s for my 2 Vertexes, this seems really far off, what could be the problem?
Thank you for your help,

-Falven

SSD's in RAID0 do not have TRIM enabled. Windows 7 is telling you that TRIM is enabled, but if you look at drive data with software such as CrystalDiskInfo, you will see that TRIM is disabled.

The second one of those two C300 drives (with CCA at the end) comes with a data transfer kit. It's a USB to SATA cable and image software.

Ok, then I guess the choice should be pretty obvious?
C300, here I come.
