Just Cause 2 Freezing

Thread Starter
Hello

At any time from 1 minute to 30 minutes into game, it will freeze and then kick out. I have to shut down steam and then restart it to get back in.

All drivers and game updates are up to date (as of now)

This isn't a temp issue and the frame rates are easily above 30fps at all times.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

What could i check?

The JC2 website (some guy on the forum) suggestes limiting cpu usage to single core....?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

With steam when I have problems I usually just need to verify game cache to get it working. Just right click on the game icon in steam and select properties and go to the local files tab and you should have the option. Might not be the solution for you but it's something to try.

Thanks for the advice. I have done this but still freezing/crashing out.

I think I've located the problem as my ram being multi branded. I have two Kingston sticks and two generic ones. Could they have conflicting settings/speeds?

I also had similar issues with my just cause 2 and still am. If you google your issue you will see many people complaining of similar problems. it is an issue with the game that has never and will never be addressed.

I personally have to verify the game through steam before i launch it to keep it up for more than 30 minutes, and after 30, it still crashes.

Still freezing. All games in Steam now. Mobo has been replaced and voltages in the ram checked.

I get the "ati driver has stopped working and recovered" type error message.

The freezes are game pausing, audio seems to go on hold, just a second or less if audio repeated. Screen will then go a colour. Usually green or pinky if I'm playing borderlands. It will then either go back to the game or stay locked up.

GPU has been tested thoroughly....

Any more suggestions?

So, i bought an i5 2500k bunndle to see if it was a cpu issue. checked gpu temps and they were at around 30 c. This seemed low and the system still crashed. Sent gpu back to ebuyer and they confirmed it was faulty. Got a 6950 now which is awesome with no crashing.
