What would you do?

Now I have to really decide. The Dell U2311 I have now is pretty perfect. Zero dead or stuck pixels. No backlight bleed and color uniformity is perfect. Do I take the chance and go with the 27 inch Acer for $350 and sell the Dell for say $240 or do I stick with the Dell..

the Dell U2311 is really a fantastic monitor. If you really want the extra 4 inches then thats your call but I find myself 23 inch to be perfect.

In my opinion i would stay with the u2311. Acer monitors never last I have had some extremely bad experience with Acer monitors Hissing & dying in the past.

Stick with the dell one

Only upgrade to a U2711 or a 3011 (or ZR30W)

You'd be disappointed with the acer, really. Might even prove to be a huge downgrade. Most likely the acer would be a TN panel, which would look awful compared to the IPS panel in the u2311

I'd love to get a U2711 but at $1000 I could buy 3 27 inch TN panels for that price...

well depends on what your needs are. I game so i got a 120hz monitor. its a led tn monitor "Sig". I had a 28 hanns-g and i loved the size but input lag was to great. turn off v-scyn and the screen would tear and U can see it ez on 28 inches. If you can get a led 120 hz monitor. or wait and go 30inchs on the ones mentioned above. isp are great for photo shop work but not for gamers.

IPS is fine for gaming, sometimes more so than any standard 60hz TN.

For example, the HP ZR30W has very little input lag, is IPS, does't ghost a ton, and looks great. That'd be my dream monitor but whatever.

There's nothing wrong with IPS for gaming, if you don't mind 60hz...

Not to be offensive but the 27 inch is TN. TN = garbage COMPARED to IPS.

Once you go IPS, you never go back. His 23" dell is IPS...

So yeah, the 23" is better IMO

Sounds crazy, but I have the 27" iMac, the 30" Apple Cinema Display (matte) and my favorite monitor is my Dell U2410 and all of the aforesaid are IPS monitors. Bigger isn't always better

If color accuracy isn't a big concern for you, you may not mind switching back to a TN, but unless that 27" comes with a 2560x1440 res you'll be sacrificing image clarity as well with that inflated pixel pitch.

TLDR: 1920x1080 looks much sharper at 23" than 27".
