Service Pack 1 error

Thread Starter
I just did a format of my computer. Did about 60 updates or everyone before the SP1 update. So SP1 was the only important update left to do. I then installed AVG internet security and installed CCC 11.2.

Edit: Actually then I updated all my MB drivers then I tried the service pack.

Then I attempted to install SP1 and it downloads till 18% then I get an error. I did some searching and tried to disable the AVG and installing but it did not work.

Any ideas?

The error you get would be needed to fix it.

Ya im at work now so I can post it later. I have not tried the stand alone. Have read to try it and will when I get home. Also heard to try a "system readiness tool".

Those are the 2 things I'm going to try. Was just hoping somebody would know the answer for sure. The SP1 installed fine when it first came out. Then I formatted this weekend and am now having issues.

I also got an error with 7x64 Ultimate SP1, it complained about some missing components. Irritatingly, it did not elaborate further. Just "missing components" isn't enough to, well, anything.

I decided to hide the update for now, and return to it when I reinstall the OS upon a future SSD.

Hmm weird.. yh would be best to wait for the screeny of the error, but yh... i would of just formatted (never install the updates as SP1 should have all previous updates) installed SP1, then my drivers, but thats just me..

I am weighing the option now of just formatting again and trying SP1 first?? Or spend potentially hours trying to figure out the problem.....why does Microsoft put me to such decisions.....headscratch.gif

Microsoft released a hotfix for Win7 users who get errors while installing SP1, search the Microsoft KB for it.
