Sorry to beat this dead thread into exsistence, but i just thought of something after chatting a little about DA2 to a friend and I wanted some opinions... Not sure if anyone theorized this as well...

But basically.. what if Dragon Age 2 was originally supposed to be 3 DLC Packs for Dragon Age Origins that were then turned into a full title with a reassignment of the protagonist and etc...

The idea of this was that these would be 3 DLC titles that bridged DA:O and DA2

Think about it..this is all a VERY rough idea...

What if the original plan was for the 3 Hawke siblings to be your new followers, your "guides" so to speak on Kirkwall, the Warden being brought here because Hawke wanted to enlist his help on an expedition to recover a powerful artifact and he asked you to come along because the Grey Wardens might be interested in it.. Then you get attacked by darkspawn and the Warden has to choose which of the Hawke siblings to save, One of the other two making it out by themselves as well and either being VERY mad that you didnt save him/her (massive negative disposition) or understanding your decision from a tactical point of view (Slight disposition bump) Same with the one you rescued either being mad at you for not saving one of the other two, or happy that you chose to save them (The idea being one Hawke hates your guts from the start, the other one has standard/normal disposition) if the Mage!Hawke isnt alive anymore then you have to go find and convicne Anders to join you...

The rest of it plays out the same, Character has to finance the expedition, and theres a good selection of side quests and some new equipment and that... Go through the expedition, get the Macguffin and then it basically ends with "The Qunari are coming" Setting up DLC number 2

DLC Number 2 has you dealing with the Qunari, who are basically seeing what is going on over on this side of the world, They could find out about the Macguffin and tell the Warden to give it to them, the Warden's response will be "I'll have to think about it.."

The warden goes off to do a side quest while he thinks... only to return and find... Kirkwall in flames because the Qunari are after said Macguffin and sick of waiting... Now you have a choice, Defeat the Qunari or give them the Macguffin...Or if you left the Macguffin in your home the Qunari get their hands on it, and you can choose to let them have it with no contest so long as they leave Kirkwall alone and retreat or kill them and take it back.... No matter what, part 2 ends with the Mages beginning an uprising, and the disgruntled Hawke sibling joining Ander's cause

DLC Number 3 deals with the Mage/Templar problem, with the Warden attempting to mediate with them to keep both of them from doing anything rash/irrevocable, Especially by this time as the warden has been made aware that the Darkspawn threat is rising and he really needs the support of the mages AND the templars at this moment... At the end of this pack, the Warden has gone missing, and Leliana shows up in front of the last survivng Hawke sibling basically asking "What on earth happened here, wheres the Warden?" Thus setting up a different Dragon Age II, Hawke being the PC for the next game trying to find the Warden because they need the Macguffin
