AMD K6-2, 64mb of PC100, 10-gb quantum fireball. Played Starcraft: Brood War and Soldat on that thing. I think I still have the motherboard and processor lying around somewhere. Before that I had a packard bell that I've long since lost in storage, but I didn't really do any gaming on it.

A Packard Bell something-or-other, c. 1995. 75MHz CPU (I think it was a P54C), 128MB of RAM, 2GB HDD. I played Journeyman Project Turbo! and Silent Steel for days on end. *sigh* That truly was the Golden Age of computer games.

First "real" computer we had at home was a 286 with a 40mb drive. Because my dad was a PC gamer, that PC saw all sorts of action! Kings Quest Games, Gabriel Knight, Kyrandia games, Space Quest, all of the old forgotten realms games, etc.

MY first computer was a 486 DX50, Creative CD-Rom drive and sound blaster sound card. 7th Guest was my first really cool game for that computer. Also enjoyed Tie-Fighter/X-wing, DOOM, Lands of Lore, etc.

Don't remember the cpu specs. It had 32mb of ram, no videocard, I later upgraded to 2mb videocard. It handled Counter-Strike just fine

My first PC-esque playabout was on the gorious Commodore 64, 0.985 Mhz, 64k ram. God I remember when we first switched from Cassette tapes to 12 1/2 floppys

Was a good while before I got my "first" pc, twas a Compaque 400 mhz. those were the days!

My first was a 386 that I played Bible Adventures on when I was 6 or 7. We eventually got a mouse for it and installed Windows 3.1 and I played SimCity.

I don't remember screenshots back then. Originals would be hard to find. But you're right, it didn't look as good as either image.
