[Yahoo!]Forecast For Best Buy: Worst Is Yet to Come - Page 14

Companies like this have a huge profit margin. They say they need to support instore staff and building maintainence, but it's a load of rubbish. They can afford to give staff around 20% off and still be making money, which means their profit margins must be like 50%. Insane.

Oh and the problem here is bloody austerity measures. If a company/bank is failing. Liquidate them.

lol, This. One time i was in Best Buy, they asked me what i wanted, i said i was looking for a 4890 (This was several years ago (Like 2 or so)) and he was confused as to what i was talking about then when i explained to him what a 4890 was and that you could buy dedicated graphics cards, he tried to sell me a 3 thousand dollar Mac......my computer at the time was ****-loads faster than that thing, and i didnt spend 3 grand getting the parts. But i have met a few who were somewhat knowledgable and actually could follow, but not many.

The only thing i think Best Buy sells at decent prices are their DVDs (ie Movies) and their Power Supplies, their PSUs are actually cheaper than MicroCenters. But for the most part if i want to get something for my rig i go up to Microcenter and enjoy the hour drive there and back. but still.

Just because it is mainstream and people know it's expensive doesn't mean anything. Customers will come for a few reasons, because they don't know of other stores to fill those needs. That's changing, with wally world and other store outlets that are now taking up their market.

Hell they dont even know what purpose ram serves in a pc. Marketing and noob as people, have made it seem that more ram, means faster. If we had a celeron laptop, with 6gb of ram and a 500gb hdd, it would easily sell for $600 and we wouldnt be able to keep them on the shelves, cause people would think its faster than an i7 based laptop with 3gb of ram...lol
This is why they were still around, because even though the customers knew they would face a huge price they didn't know what else to do. The internet stores are another group taking Best Buy market, though that has been said many times through out this thread.

Back when AMD just release the FX-60s, I went to BB to check if they had any machines that had the chip inside. A good friend who worked there at the time show me their entire AMD lineup. He actually told me that they had the great single core machines, awesome dual-core machines, and "OUTSTANDING FX TRIPLE CORE machines!" This was back in 2006! All I said was "you gotta to be kidding me..." and walked away.

Glad to hear this terrible store is going down. Besy buy sells some of their items at such an insane mark up .. buying anything there is a waste of money.

Best Buy = overpriced, low-end merchandise and disreputable sales practices.

I wonder why they FAIL?

I don't know why you kids keep bringing that up. And before you call me a "fanboy", I don't shop at BB.
No, Best Buy does not create competition, that is why it is going out of business. Try thinking logically instead of emotionally.
