No. What really happened:

GB: Oooh, nice new missiles there America, can we have some? Promise not to tell anyone how many we have, Secrecy is our main deterrent.
US: Sure (sells GB some trident 2's)
A few years later:
US: Hey Russia, Our treaty just expired, so we wont be able to check on each others missiles. Want to start a new treaty?
Russia: Ok, but make us want to.
US: fine then, we want this treaty, we will do anything to get it!]

The US now basically tells Russia how many missiles GB has, Despite GB telling them not to.
